Urgent Action Needed! Anti-gun laws moving in VT and St Albans Mayor supports it.

Urgent Action Needed!!!

There is an all-out offensive on your gun rights in Vermont. The leadership in Montpelier will stop at nothing to blame you the law abiding citizen for crimes that YOU did not commit. The legislative process in Vermont is being manipulated by outside forces to strip you of your rights. The process that can take months or even years is being rammed through in mere days. Make no mistake Vermont is a one party system that does not allow any input into the process from anyone that does not support the leadership views. This is wrong and does not represent the rights of ALL Vermonters.

As a member of the Sportsman's Club of Franklin County we need YOU to contact the senators that represent Franklin County.

Call Senators Randy Brock and Carolyn Branagan IMMEDIATELY. Call them at home this weekend. Do not wait.
Email them, write a clear polite email outlining your feelings about the present legislative proceedings.

Franklin Carolyn Branagan R 782-4108 cbranagan@leg.state.vt.us

Franklin Randy Brock R 868-2300 rbrock@leg.state.vt.us

Possible talking points for you are:
* Concern for the lack of openness and the behind the scenes deal making.
* The embarrassing manipulation of our children for political gain.
* Political influence from out of state. The director of the forces pushing this agenda is a NH resident.
* Praise our Vermont law enforcement community, enforce our laws as on the books. The LAW worked in Poultney.
* Oppose S.6 and H.422 and any new restrictions that will be introduced and fast tracked in the coming weeks, including a possible magazine ban.

If you live in St Albans, Call your MAYOR!

Vermont Mayors Respond to Governor Scott and Legislators' Support of Commonsense Gun Reforms

Mayors Note Past and Current VMC Support for Universal Background Checks and Other Measures to Protect All Vermonters

______________________________________________________
Montpelier, VT – Today, Vermont Mayors issued statements welcoming Governor Scott and legislators' support of commonsense gun reforms. Since 2013, the Vermont Mayors Coalition has supported a number of proposed commonsense gun reforms to ensure the safety of all Vermonters. These reforms have included:
• Urging state lawmakers to require universal background checks for all gun sales.
• Calling for notification of Vermont law enforcement agencies when a prohibited person attempts to purchase a firearm.
• Supporting Burlington's right to take the steps the City felt were necessary to protect public safety.
(<--- Allowing cities to pass their own GUN CONTROL!)_
• Enacting a State law prohibiting a felon from possessing a firearm so that such an offense may be prosecuted under State law in addition to federal law.
The VMC urges Montpelier leaders to consider all of these anew as part of their new consideration of gun reforms.

St. Albans Mayor Liz Gamache: "Our children are making it abundantly clear – our inability to move beyond the status quo is not acceptable. We must be open to moving beyond partisan positions and corporate interests to have the difficult conversations that will lead to effective policy changes that will keep our schools and communities safer."

Monthly Range Clean Up Days and Volunteers NEEDED!

As you all know we had to raise our dues this year. The main driver for raising dues was that we had to hire out more work to contractors due to lack of volunteers. Last year we had over 800+ members and only 31 people volunteer, 20 of those volunteers were on Spring Clean up day. Though it was a big help on Spring Clean up Day, we only had 11 other volunteers to help throughout the rest of the year which is not enough.

This year we are breaking work up to Monthly Clean up Days, the July Clean up Day will be done by the Practical Shooting Group which has already volunteered, Thank you!

The monthly work currently takes 1 person 3 hours to do but 6 people less than an hour! ONE hour a month is all we ask!

We have work that needs to be done on a monthly basis along with some small projects.
The monthly work includes:
* Range clean up
* Changing the target stands
* Garbage clean up
* Target stand building

Some larger projects:
* Large Landscaping Projects
* Painting the club buildings
* Brush and Tree cutting

We are also looking for ideas for a prize for the members that volunteer.

Please check our CALENDAR for the monthly clean up days and other activities.

If you have an ideas for a project that you would like to do or want to sign up as a volunteer, email Mike at mikescfc@gmail.com

Keep in mind, a lot of the monthly work is for safety reasons. If no one volunteers and the work does not get done, then the range will stay CLOSED until the work is done.

Looking for Mowing Contractor for the Spring through Fall Season

We are looking for a contractor to mow and trim the club lawns. This contractor MUST supply a proof of insurance.

Please contact mike at Mikescfc@gmail.com

He is putting the list together and will schedule a walk through for the bid.

The contractor must contact us. We are not chasing them so please do not send us "names" of contractors. Have them contact Mike.
Thank you!

Introduction to IDPA Class April 28th

Introduction to IDPA Class Announcement

Important! Shooters wanting to participate in this class must pre-register! Please share with those you know who may be interested in discovering more about IDPA competition.

Because the number of students is limited, walk-ups will not be accepted. Contact James Lang at james_lang62@comcast.net to register. Students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Class size will be limited to 20.

This class teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for safely and efficiently using a handgun in International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) competition. Although the course is oriented toward IDPA matches, most of the skills and safety practices covered will apply equally well to United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) or multi-gun competitions.

The primary audience for the course are those individuals who have never participated in an IDPA match and would like a low-stress introduction to the sport. We also welcome those who are curious about action pistol shooting and want to find out more about it. Finally, if space permits we welcome those shooters who have participated in matches but would like to practice and develop their IDPA skills and pick up tips to improve their performance.

This is a 4 to 5-hour course consisting of classroom instruction followed by training/practice on the range. Emphasis will be on teaching shooters who are new to action pistol sports to navigate a course of fire safely and efficiently. Students will learn the terminology and range commands used in the sport of IDPA. The following skills/techniques will be taught and then practiced under the supervision of experienced and certified IDPA Safety Officers: basic safety procedures; gun management from the vehicle to the range; loading and unloading the gun; drawing from a holster and acquiring a target; proper clearing of the gun at the end of a course of fire; holstering the gun; target transitions; engaging targets in tactical priority; slide-lock reloads; tactical reloads with retention; shooting on the move (forward, backward, laterally); shooting strong hand, weak hand, and freestyle; proper use of cover; muzzle control while competing; and scoring of targets.

Equipment Needed: Students will need a properly functioning, safe handgun, caliber 9mm or larger, with at least three magazines/speedloaders; a strong-side belt holster that covers the trigger guard; a belt carrier for at least one magazine/speedloader; and 150 rounds of ammunition. If a student doesn't have this equipment, arrangements can be made to have loaner equipment available.

April 28th at 9am
Cost: $15 for SCFC Members/$25 for non-members.
